You have got to be kidding me, SNOW!!!

cactus and snowSnow!  Come on, Man!  I’m living in Waco, Texas and I’m getting 2 inches of snow tonight!!!  You have got to be kidding me!

Last year in Michigan it snowed from October til April, record snowfall and my back is still feeling it.  On the last snowfall of the year I broke my shovel right in half, I said several choice words and flung the two pieces into the middle of the yard.  I believe at this point is where God had prepared me to come to Waco.  I was fed up for the first time in my life of dealing with snow, and I honestly Hated living in a northern climate at that moment.

I moved to Waco at the end of August, and experienced two straight weeks in 100 degree weather.  I loved it!  No snow, I knew I would never have to worry about taking care of widows snow in the middle of the night, never have to drag a snowblower around town, I moved down here without even a shovel!  God has a funny sense of humor!

A couple major differences between Detroit snow and Waco snow:

1.  2 inches in Detroit doesn’t even get the broom out, why when you can walk over it?  2 inches in Waco leads to a rush on Walmart for Winter Supplies!  Give me a break, people are actually buying out canned food in case they can’t get out of their house!

2.  Everyone was talking about canceling school!  It would have to snow 2 inches every 20 minutes during the hours of 3am-4am for school to be cancelled in Detroit.  Even then it would depend on how many snow days are left.

3.  This snow will melt before it has a chance to turn black!

4.  Everyone is worried about how they’re going to get around … they all drive Trucks!  I remember a few years ago pushing a rusted out Thunderbird out of two feet of snow, hoping we could get it into some ruts til it got out into the main street.  I’ve been at church when we were considering cancelling the service, when 80 year old widows showed up in their grandma cars, and they actually showed up on time!

5.  Biggest difference  …  my shovel is in a landfill in Southgate, Michigan!
